No losing run crisis – Thomson
inverness number two denies confidence malaise and targets rangers scalp

Caley Thistle assistant manager Malky Thomson insists five consecutive SPL defeats have not caused a crisis of confidence at Caledonian Stadium.
Goal difference separates Inverness from bottom-placed Hamilton in the SPL and the club’s supporters have publicly questioned the decision-making of manager Craig Brewster.
His number two feels the Highland club’s recent barren run has been taken out of all proportion and that they can end it by taking something from tomorrow’s home game against Rangers.
Thomson said: “There is no crisis, there is no pressure. We are managing the club as we have been doing from the start of the season.
“Nothing from outside the club affects us. There is no panic, it is only made by the media. The media are making a story out of it. The players are not negative at all, they are very positive and upbeat.
“They are in a league that is very tight and there are three teams on 17 points. The players are there to do a job and that is what we will be continuing to do.”
Thomson is aware Rangers cannot afford to lose tomorrow afternoon’s match after falling seven points behind Celtic when Scott McDonald settled last week’s Old Firm match.
Yet he is quietly optimistic Caley Thistle can further dent Rangers’ title aspirations.
He said: “It is a big game, not only for the club but the players as well, to play against the best in the league.
“Their players are worth millions and their wage bill is massive, it is a good test for us. The two teams will be looking for points but that is the same as it was at the start of the season. We have to go out and give a good account of ourselves as we know we can do.”
