Simpson shines to claim top hill race honours

SCOTTISH junior international Robbie Simpson (Banchory Stonehaven AC) got the better of six-times previous winner and course record-holder Dan Whitehead (Cosmic Hillbashers) to win the El-brim-ick hill race at Tyrebagger Woods on the outskirts of Aberdeen.
Simpson took an early lead and went on to complete the three-mile course, which features a 750ft climb up and down Elrick and Brimmond hills, in 20min 42sec.
Whitehead was 68 seconds behind.
Aberdeen’s Veronique Oldham was a clear winner of the women’s prize in 26:19. Moira Davie (Aberdeen University) was runner-up, while Anita Hamilton (Cosmic Hillbashers) set a women’s supervet age group record of 29:15 in third position overall.
Myles Edwards held off a strong challenge from his Aberdeen AAC clubmate Ross Fulton to win the fourth round of the Run-4-It Proms 3k race series at Aberdeen.
Edwards recorded 9:32 with Fulton just two seconds behind.
Moira Davie (Aberdeen University) overhauled Lynne Parkinson to win the women’s race in 11:27.
