A right storm in a coffee cup

Published: 14/01/2009

IT COULD cause quite a stir, but it appears there is more in a cup of coffee than we might have imagined. Drink excessive amounts of it and you could see or hear ghosts due to hallucinations induced by the caffeine, according to British university researchers.

A humble cup of coffee would not normally be associated with strange voices or apparitions, but everything in moderation, as they say.

The only snag is that these findings were based on the hallucinatory experiences of 200 students. More coffee, anyone?
