dog-eat-dog as students take on glenrothes side

ABERDEENSHIRE are at home to Kinross tomorrow in a fixture that starts a crucial spell in their promotion bid.

Head coach Eric Shearer said: “The Kinross game is followed by a game against bottom side Blairgowrie and then Crieff. It could be a big month for us.”

Aberdeenshire are 12 points ahead of the chasing pack in Caledonia 1 – a pack which includes Aberdeen University, St Andrews University and Glenrothes.

But it will be dog-eat-dog as the Aberdeen students take on Glenrothes in a game which can only benefit Shire.

Orkney will appreciate home advantage when they take on Crieff and St Andrews entertain Blairgowrie.

Garioch play Mackie at Inverurie in what is sure to be a keenly contested match.

In Division 2 (north-east) Huntly who are tied at the top with Aberdeen Wanderers, have a great opportunity to move clear when they play host to the Groats Road side at Market Muir.

Deeside play Peterhead and Shetland host Westdyce in the other games.

In the north-west section runaway leaders Moray will be expected to win away to Highland Reds, while second-placed Ross Sutherland will attempt to keep up the chase at Lochaber, even if the 12 point deficit looks nigh on impossible to close for the Invergordon team.
