TWO Canadian artists opened their first UK exhibition in Aberdeen yesterday showcasing seven years of work.
Design duo Seripop, made up of 30-year-olds Yannick Desranleau and Chloe Lum, create vibrant artwork for gig posters and record sleeves.
Their exhibition at Peacock Visual Arts is made up of 340 handpainted posters, covering the entire gallery.
Miss Lum said: “It’s exciting being in Aberdeen.
“We’ve covered the whole gallery, from the floor to the ceiling.”
The Montreal-based artists met nine years ago at a music festival in Canada.
Miss Lum said: “We were both musicians and decided to form a band together.
“That’s how we got into making art, we used to make gig posters for our own band and then bigger bands saw them and asked us to do it for them.”
Seripop have produced work for bands such as Arcade Fire and Queens of the Stone-age, as well as covering Ottawa’s buses with their quirky designs.
The twosome will also give a printmaking class at the gallery, from 1pm this afternoon.
Miss Lum said: “We chose to come here because the gallery also has a printmaking workshop.
“It’s always good to be making new pieces while you’re out working.”
The workshop is now fully booked but the exhibition will run until March 28.
Entry is free and the gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am until 5.30pm.
