A PLAY inspired by a real-life serial killer is to open before an audience in Dundee tonight.

Acting and performance students are tackling the production of Roberto Zucco, penned by influential French playwright Bernard-Marie Koltes.

Thirteen HNC students will take to the stage of The Space for the production.

The play offers a neutral view of the 1980s Italian murderer, who terrorised people across three countries after escaping from a mental institution.

Director Paul Christie said: “The play examines the society around the main character and poses the question: Is it any surprise he became a killer?

“The playwright saw the murderer’s face on a wanted poster in the mid-80s and became fascinated with his story.”

Roberto Zucco can be seen at The Space from tonight until Saturday.

Tickets, at £8 and £6 for concessions, are available from The Space box office on 01382 834934.
