Accidents involving cyclists double in city last year
The number of accidents involving cyclists in Aberdeen doubled last year, according to new figures released yesterday.
In 2007, 25 cyclists in the city were involved in an accident. In 21 cases a car was involved, three more involved a lorry or van and one another cyclist.
Last year the total rose to 52 accidents, 35 of which involved a cyclist and a car. There were also 10 incidents involving a lorry or van, three with buses and one with a taxi. Three cyclists fell off their bikes with no other vehicle being involved.
