AN ABERDEEN man, his stepfather and a friend who are taking on an arduous drive from Aberdeen to Mongolia for charity are looking for a fourth teammate.

They will take between four and six weeks to reach their destination of Ulan Bator and hope to raise more than £10,000.

Jon Van Heerden, 25, his stepfather, Muir MacKenzie, 49, both of Hardgate, and Gary Morrison, 25, of Newmachar, will use an old Citroen Berlingo, which they recently bought at auction.

They will leave Aberdeen on July 17 and their adventure will see them join the Mongol Rally 2009, in which about 500 teams are taking part.

Money raised will go towards Mercy Corps and Cash for Kids.

When they reach Ulan Bator, the car will be sold at auction and the money will go towards Mongolian projects.

Mr Van Heerden, a gardener, said: “It will be a great experience to see Asia and going through so many countries. It is going to be amazing.

“We are looking for one more member. The maximum is four. The more the merrier.”

Anyone interested in joining the team, sponsoring them or donating should call 07533 666546, e-mail tripoholic@googlemail.com or visit the website at www.tripoholic.co.uk
