Highland rugby coach Hugh Mackintosh will opt for experience ahead of youth for the final two games.
The Inverness club will play relegated Hillfoots in a National League Division 2 match at Canal Park tomorrow and, after relying on the youngsters in recent weeks, Mackintosh will fill his team with more senior players.
Veteran second row Paul Miller will play his last game before retiring, while number eight Kenny Cameron is also expected to play.
South African inside centre Johan Mauhysen, 18, will be given another chance, but Mackintosh said: “We did not have many experienced players out last week and maybe we have gone too far the other way.
“Maybe we need to readjust the balance a wee bit and not put so much responsibility on the youngsters.
“The youngsters have responded well, but for morale I think it would be better if we did end up with two wins rather than two defeats.
“We do need one or two experienced guys in vital positions. It is our last home game of the season and we want to give supporters something to cheer.”
Gordonians will stave off the threat of relegation tomorrow if they win their final National League Division 3 game of the season against Strathmore.
The game is also vital to the Angus men, who are in danger of dropping back a league, but with a one-point advantage a draw would be good enough to keep up the Inchmacoble side.
Gordonians president and assistant coach Chris Snape is insistent his in-form side can win. He said: “It’s a marvellous conclusion to the league, especially as it’s our first year back in the national leagues and we intend to stay there.
“After two good wins there is a feeling of spring in the squad who are at full strength for this vital game. We beat Strathmore earlier this season. I’m confident of a double.”
Gordonians, like their Angus opponents, could get a second bite of the cherry should they lose, as Ross High are one loss from relegation regardless of the result at Inchmacoble, although their game against promotion-seeking Trinity is not until next week.
Snape added: “I’d rather we did it our way and, after the six-try win against Lenzie, I’m pretty sure we can come through.”
“We know what it takes to beat Gordonians and after two disappointing results in the west coast we are back to full strength, but have made one or two tactical changes to the side,” said Strathmore secretary Dave Innes.
Innes is relying on home advantage to see Strathmore through, and is mindful Gordonians made it count when the teams met at Countesswells earlier in the season.
Ross Sutherland Stags will play East Regional League Division 1 side Duns in the quarter-finals of the National Plate at the Naval ground in Invergordon tomorrow (2pm).
Coach John Scott is optimistic they can take one step closer to a Murrayfield final. Scott said: “If we can win this weekend it would give us a home tie in the semi-finals next week. It would be brilliant if we could make it all the way to Murrayfield.”
The Stags are holding an open day at their ground tomorrow, starting at 12.30pm, aimed at finding people who would like to help with the running of the club.
Aberdeen University are scheduled to play Jordanhill Phoenix in Glasgow in the quarter-finals of the National Plate.
