Music project launched at Peterhead
Bluestones scheme will help aspiring songwriters and musicians

AN AMBITIOUS music project aimed at aspiring young songwriters and musicians in the north-east was launched in Peterhead at the weekend.
The Bluestones scheme was set up with the help of a £30,000 grant from the Scottish Arts Council.
Peterhead-based charity Foundation Scotland is offering the chance for 20 students to work with a team of professional musicians and recording artists over the next six months.
The Fame Academy-style project will be based at the town’s Music and Rock School and is aimed at budding stars between 14-25.
The scheme was launched in style with a musical event in Peterhead’s Waterside Inn on Saturday morning.
The session was organised to give the public a taste of what the course has on offer.
Foundation Stone is the community arm of the Foundation Church, a contemporary non-denominational church at Peterhead.
The Scottish Arts Council grant is the largest the project has attracted. Additional backing has come from the Banff and Buchan Arts Forum and other groups and individuals.
Potential project members have until Monday, April 27, to apply for a place on Bluestones.
Application forms are available from Bluestones, PO Box 18689, Peterhead, AB42 9AE or at www.blue stonesmusic.com
