Ring return for Inverurie fighter Mike Reid

INVERURIE’S Mike Reid is ready to make his ring comeback after nearly two years.

Reid has not fought since a points defeat by Leonard Lothian in May 2007 at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom.

He goes in at welterweight against Coatbridge’s Craig Windsor at Glasgow’s Thistle Hotel on Friday, May 29. Windsor is undefeated in two contests after making his professional debut this year.

Reid said: “I suffered a bad cut after a clash of heads in my fight with Tye Williams two-and-a-half years ago and it is only now I have had an operation to remove the scar tissue that I am confident the cut will not pose more problems.

“It was a huge disappointment when my scheduled show at Thainstone Market was cancelled last year due to the promoter experiencing difficulties. I love boxing in front of my hometown supporters and now I will be boxing at welterweight, I believe I can win a title in front of my loyal support in Inverurie.”
