Fringe events for Coast Festival
programme of music and poetry to go with main event

MUSIC and poetry will form the basis of fringe events to complement a major north-east visual arts festival.
The full programme has been drawn up for next weekend’s Coast Festival at Banff and Macduff.
Attractions range from the songs of Robert Burns to performances by singer-songwriters, poets and storytellers.
The Fringe at the Fife will showcase performances by artists who have had development grants from Banff and Buchan Arts Forum.
Group treasurer John Mackie said: “The quality and range of work is exciting and we are looking forward to welcoming the public to the free events.”
Artists include Banff singer Sarah Ord, who will perform songs by Burns and selections of her own favourites, local singer-songwriter Kate James and Mr Mackie, who will present poems and stories.
Greek guitarist George Elias will feature in An African Suite, which combines story and lyrics with north African-style music.
Other performers include Tim Taylor, writer-in-resident at the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses and sound artist, David Liddell.
Nairn-based actor Anna Lavigne and guitarist and composer Michael Moar are also booked to appear.
The fringe events will be based at The Aul Fife bar and restaurant at Low Street, Banff.
Performances will be at different times between May 22-24.
Arts and craft work produced by The Arches and Mind Space projects at Banff and Fraserburgh will be on display during the weekend.
