Website is step up for Moray walk-job-run groups
Partnership aims to improve communication and encourage people to exercise

SEVERAL Moray outdoor groups have been brought together under one website in a bid to encourage people to take up exercise.
It contains pages on six walking groups, nine jogging groups and three running clubs across Moray and was set up by a “walk-jog-run” partnership. This partnership is made up of Walk Moray, Jog Scotland Moray, and three running clubs – Forres Harriers, Keith and District AAC, and Moray Roadrunners.
Cullen runner Nick Brown, 46, of Lintmill, set up the Jog Scotland Buckie group two years ago with just four members.
The membership has swelled to more than 100 people who run twice a week. He came up with the idea of the partnership as the best way for the many new and established groups to communicate.
He said: “Jog Scotland has grown recently in Moray and a lot of walking groups have also been set up.
“I could foresee a situation where unnecessary confusion and toe treading could occur between these new groups and the existing clubs. The solution was to get everyone talking to one another.”
The outcome was a new website, www.walkjogrun moray.org.uk which was funded by a £1,500 grant from the Moray Community Health and Social Care Partnership. Part of the funding involved training eight walk-jog-run volunteers to update the site.
It is hoped that the new website will not only enhance information provision to existing members, but will also boost the numbers and appeal to people visiting the area.
