A GROUP of Moray artists who put together a joint project to promote their work around the country have received a £5,513 grant from VisitScotland.
The sculptors, weavers and painters, who are all based at the Findhorn Foundation, formed the Artists’ Trail three years ago to promote their work.
They printed 10,000 brochures, using funding from local art galleries who paid for advertising space, and distributed them to tourist information centres within a 60-mile radius.
The additional funding from VisitScotland has enabled them to broaden their scope and they can now publish 23,000 brochures and distribute them as far away as Deeside, Pitlochry and Dornoch.
Jonathan Wheeler, a watercolour painter at the Findhorn Foundation, is chairman of the Artists’ Trail group.
He said they were pleased to receive the funding, which the group will match through their own fundraising to help encourage people to visit the area.
Scott Armstrong, VisitScotland’s regional director, said: “I look forward to their efforts in driving the area, and its artists, forward.”
