An international summer school being held in the UK for the first time is to be hosted by the prospective University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI).
The sixth annual International Comparative Rural Policy Studies event will be held at UHI’s Centre for Remote and Rural Studies, which is based at Academy Lodge in Crown Avenue, Inverness, between June 21 and July 5.
Centre director Dr Philomena de Lima said 28 postgraduate students and policy professionals from Africa, China, Europe, North and South America and Scotland had signed up for the school.
Dr de Lima said: “The Highlands and islands have a wealth of expertise in rural development and we hope the school will involve many people from across our region.
“There will be seminars, debates, presentations and field trips where they can meet a range of people involved in rural affairs.”
The school will begin with a visit to the Scottish Parliament and Victoria Quay in Edinburgh, prior to events at UHI campuses at Inverness and Skye.
