Heartbreak for young brothers after cherished motorcycles stolen
raiders break into locked garden shed and make off with boys’ dream machines

A break-in at Oldmeldrum has left two young brothers heartbroken following the theft of their off-road motocross bikes.
Meldrum Academy pupil Kieran MacDonald, 12, saved all his birthday, Christmas and pocket money to finally buy his dream motorbike just weeks ago.
Brother Ruairidh, 9, helped his brother by saving his own cash to buy Kieran’s old bike so they could share outdoor fun together.
But both machines were stolen when thieves broke into a locked shed at the family home in the town’s Green Way.
Overnight raiders removed several family bicycles from the shed, stacked them on the lawn, then made off with the boy’s motocross bikes that had been behind them.
“My children are devastated by the theft,” said their father, Angus. “I also want to alert other people in the area about the risk of similar break-ins.”
He realised something was wrong when he saw the dumped cycles on the grass as he was about to leave for work with a Dyce oil firm on Tuesday.
Mum Linda, an administrator at Meldrum Primary School, said the break-in happened between 10.30pm on Monday and 6.30am the following morning.
The couple’s 19-year-old daughter, Kim, has a bedroom just yards from the shed but heard nothing.
Mrs MacDonald said: “The boys put so much effort into saving for their bikes and looking after them, particularly Kieran.”
Mr MacDonald is offering a significant reward for any information leading to the return of the bikes, or the conviction of the people who stole them. Police investigations are continuing.
The bikes are a green Kawasaki KX85 with black and white WERX graphics, and a white Yamaha PW80 which has a purple seat and graphics.
Anyone with information on the machines, or who noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time, should contact police on 0845 600 5700 or Crimestoppers free-phone on 0800 555111.
