WITH snow in the Cairngorms and panto tickets going on sale at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness, you could be forgiven for forgetting what month it is.

Saturday’s big announcement was that festive favourite Jack and the Beanstalk would burst into town from December 7 to January 10.

The latest version will be written and directed by leading Scots playwright and actor Iain Lauchlan, who will also star in the production.

Iain, who co-created the hit BBC TV series The Tweenies, has also acted in countless television programmes and will be known to many viewers of a certain age as a Playschool presenter and the man behind Finger Mouse.

He has long-standing links with Eden Court and the Highlands, having been a member of the original Theatre In Education team when the building opened in 1977.

A seasoned panto exponent, Iain has directed more than 20 of them and played a “dame” on more than 10 occasions.

Eden Court’s pantomime is one of the highlights in the theatre’s calendar with more than 30,000 tickets sold each year.
