Forward Eric Odhiambo has agreed a one-year contract extension with Caley Thistle and defender David Proctor will also commit himself to the Highland club for next season.

Inverness director of football Graeme Bennett confirmed Englishman Odhiambo, 20, will remain at the Caledonian Stadium after accepting the club’s offer. Proctor is expected to sign a new one-year deal when he returns from holiday after his agent Phil McTaggart said the versatile 25-year-old would spend a sixth season in the Highland capital.

Manager Terry Butcher will return to Inverness tomorrow and start talks aimed at keeping both defender Lionel Djebi-Zadi and midfielder Richie Foran.

Odhiambo will challenge Adam Rooney and Andy Barrowman for a starting place next season and Bennett said: “Eric was one of the players we have been trying to keep at the club and we are pleased he has agreed to stay for another year.

“He gives us something a bit different, he has a bit of pace and is direct, we were a bit short of his sort of player last year.

“Eric did well last season and was unfortunate to pick up an injury. We missed him at the most important part of the campaign.

“It is up to him now to show up well as he will want to put himself in the shop window for a move back down to England.

“David Proctor is abroad at the moment, but I would not envisage any problems with him.

“His agent told us he was quite happy with the offer we had made him, it is just about getting him to sign a contract.”

Caley Thistle will bring in a minimum of four trialists during pre-season, including a French centre back, Polish goalkeeper and two players from Holland.

Bennett would not reveal their identities but made it clear the club would make one final effort to persuade Dublin-born Foran to stay at Inverness.

He added: “I am sure Terry will try to force the issue with Richie as the players are back in training next Monday.

“We know he wants to stay in the SPL, but I don’t think he has agreed anything concrete with any club yet.”
