Blackburn Rovers heading for Tannadice

DUNDEE United will play a friendly match against English Premier League Blackburn Rovers at Tannadice on August 8.

The Arabs will play Blackburn at lunchtime, while neighbours Dundee kick off their First Division campaign against Morton at Dens Park only three hours later.

United manager Craig Levein, whose players return for pre-season training this weekend, believes the Blackburn test will stand his players in good stead for the campaign ahead.

He said: “Blackburn are a quality side and this game will be the perfect way to end our pre-season. We’ve arranged some very difficult games, such as playing Newcastle the week before, but that’s the only way I feel you can get players prepared.

“The supporters are going to see some high-profile players at Tannadice this summer.”
