Conflicting health advice

Published: 02/07/2009

IT CAME as no surprise that, on the day a government commission warned that too much conflicting health advice was confusing the public, yet another report was published on alcohol guidelines.

Drink units cause much debate and there is a suspicion among some that they have been watered down to such an excessively safe level that people simply ignore them. The same applies to most health warnings these days. No sooner are people told one thing is safe, than someone else says it is dangerous. It is enough to turn you to drink.
