CALEY Thistle recorded a convincing 6-1 victory against their Inverness neighbours Clachnacuddin in their first pre-season friendly at Grant Street Park last night.

Andy Barrowman and Richie Foran shared five goals as the First Division side wore down their Highland League opponents in a keenly contested tie.

Midfielder Lee Cox, who made his Caley Jags debut after moving north from Leicester City, added another as Terry Butcher's side began planning for the new season with a morale boosting early win.

Butcher fielded a strong starting XI with only Dougie Imrie, Adam Rooney and Eric Odhiambo omitted from the side which was relegated from the SPL last season.

Russell Duncan struck the bar before Barrowman opened the scoring on 20 minutes, converting Foran's cross.

The former Ross County forward netted his second five minutes later, after he diverted Foran's shot home from close range following Duncan's corner.

The 24-year-old completed his hat-trick on 29 minutes, stretching to latch onto Lionel Djebi-Zadi's cross from the left.

Foran then curled home a sublime free-kick from 20 yards eight minutes from the break but former Caley Thistle under-19 defender Michael Finnis managed to pull one back for Clachnacuddin just before the half expired.

Irish forward Foran claimed his second and Caley Thistle's fifth when he tapped home from two yards following up on Barrowman’s scuffed shot from inside the penalty area.

Former Montrose goalkeeper Greg Kelly featured for Inverness as a second-half trialist.

Cox finished the scoring when he drove home via the post with a well directed shot from just outside the penalty box on 71 minutes.
