Pet owner’s appeal for parrot

Bird with a wide vocabulary missing in Inverness

A VALUABLE African grey parrot that can count to 14 has been missing in Inverness for two months.

Four-year-old Carlie, bred by her owner Jo Jo Macdonald, disappeared from her home in the city’s Inshes Holdings.

Although there have been a couple of potential sightings nearby, Mr Macdonald, of 6 Inshes Holdings, hopes that someone might still have the parrot. He said: “She could still be about the trees or might have gone to somebody.

“I’m just hoping someone has her, rather than her being killed by a falcon or something.

“You really would have to hear it to believe it, but she can call the grandchildren’s names and can say anything you teach her back to you,” he said.

The parrots cost £500 to £600 to buy, but Carlie holds a lot more sentimental value for her breeder.

“I bought two others, but I’m going to put them back for sale – I thought they might help, but they just can’t replace Carlie,” he said.

Anyone with any information about Carlie’s whereabouts should contact Mr Macdonald on 07774 132556.
