Brora in comfort zone against Rothes

THE Sutherland side shook off the disappointment of last week’s defeat at Turriff to comfortably take the points against an under-strength Rothes outfit.

Brora manager Andy Macleod said: “Rothes put on a decent show, and they do have a pretty good record up here, but we were really fired up after Turriff last week, and Jason Gunn and John Cameron coming back in certainly strengthened us.

“We didn't create many chances but when they came along we took them. My players gave me 100% effort, but the fact we had more quality in the side this week, compared with last week’s trip to Turriff, was the deciding factor.”

Rothes coach Graeme Scott said: “It was a really disappointing result, a terrible performance from the first until the last minute, we just didn't turn up.”

Brora opened the scoring in the 12th minute when John Cameron beat Willie Ridgers with a low shot and the home side doubled its advantage four minutes later, Scott MacAngus rising highest to nod home.

The game was over as a contest on the hour mark when Jamie Mackay added another, but Mark Smith did pull one back for the Spey-siders five minutes later. In the 85th minute substitute Liam Baxter made it 4-1, chipping the ball over the advancing Ridgers.
