CALEY Thistle progressed to the semi-finals of the North of Scotland Cup with a 2-0 victory over Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park last night.

A Caley Jags team featuring Ross Tokely, Russell Duncan, Roy McBain broke the deadlock just before half-time through Richie Foran.

Caley Jags made it 2-0 on the hour mark when Graham Shinnie played the ball inside to Shane Sutherland, who picked out Nick Ross to the right of goal and he smashed the ball into the net.

HOLDERS Nairn County advanced to the semi-finals of the North of Scotland Cup thanks to a 2-0 victory over Lossiemouth last night at Grant Park. They will play Rothes at home in a repeat of last year’s semi-final tie.

The visitors opened the scoring 15 minutes from time when Steven Mackay scored.

Mackay netted his second when he met Craig Campbell’s cross on the volley.

WICK Academy overcame Brora Rangers 3-0 at Harmsworth Park last night.

The hosts scored after eight minutes when Steven Cunningham slipped a pass to David Allan, who lifted the ball over the keeper Michael McCallum. Wick doubled their lead when Cunningham was first to react to a loose ball in the Brora box.

The hosts rounded off the win two minutes from the end when substitute Ross Allan was fouled in the penalty box. Martin Gunn took the spot kick was saved but he scored from the rebound.

FORT William pushed Rothes all the way at Claggan Park but lost 4-3.

Rothes opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Kevin Shortreed’s ball was headed home by Mark Dougal. Fort levelled five minutes later with Richard Finnis firing home. Rothes were back in front before the break when Michael Smith rose to head home but Fort scored through a Martin Kerr free kick. An 82nd minute penalty from David Blackhall and a Michael Smith chip gave Rothes a two-goal lead. Sean Ellis’s 87th-minute penalty finished the scoring.
