MEMORIES of this summer’s successful boat festival at Portsoy have been revived in a photographic exhibition.

A selection of images taken at the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival in July have gone on display at Banff’s Duff House art gallery. More than 20 colour prints covering various aspects of the four-day festival are on show at the gallery tearoom until September 27.

This year’s maritime celebration was a Year of Homecoming event and attracted about 23,000 visitors.

It was given a boost by a visit from the Princess Royal, who spent a morning at the festival chatting to the organisers, performers and others involved. Her presence is recorded in the photographic display with many of the other activities.

A Duff House spokesman said: “In addition to Princess Anne, there are photographs of boats, performers such as the Skip 2 The Beat troupe, other exhibitors and visitors.

“This is the third year Duff House has put festival pictures on display and they are a welcome addition to the tearoom.”
