Aberdeen drink driver jailed for seven months

AN ABERDEEN drink driver was jailed for seven months after he was caught over the limit.
JOHN SMITH was stopped on Aberdeen’s Greenfern Road on February 20.
The 58-year-old, whose address was given in court papers as 3 Wood Street, Aberdeen, previously admitted the offence at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
Smith, who has a lengthy record of previous convictions including drink-driving offences, was also put off the road for 10 years.
DAVID PENNIE was caught over the limit and driving carelessly on Ellon Road, near Hutcheon Gardens, Aberdeen, on April 10. The 22-year-old admitted the offences.
Pennie, whose address was given as 204 Lee Crescent North, Aberdeen, was banned for a year and fined £650.
ADAMANTIOS FLOROS got behind the wheel while just over the legal drink limit on Aberdeen’s Union Street.
The 27-year-old, whose address was given as 30m Fraser Road, Aberdeen, admitted drink driving on January 9.
Representing himself at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, he pointed out he was only just over the legal limit.
Floros added he had misjudged the amount of alcohol he had taken and had made a mistake.
Sheriff James Tierney deferred sentence for a printout from the DVLA and banned him from driving meanwhile.
VALERIE BENHAM or PIRIE, 40, was fined £750 and banned from driving for 18 months after being caught nearly three times the limit.
The health visitor, whose address was given as 17 Aquithie Road, Kemnay, admitted getting behind the wheel with too much alcohol on Kemnay’s Aquithie Road on July 3.
