THOUSANDS of green-fingered enthusiasts flocked to an Aberdeen park at the weekend to see colourful displays of flowers and vegetables.
About 4,000 people attended the annual summer flower and vegetable show of The Royal Horticultural Society of Aberdeen (RHSA) on Saturday and Sunday.
As well as numerous displays of chrysanthemums, dahlias and over-sized vegetables, activities including bouncy castle, stalls and raffle were on offer for the whole family throughout the two-day event.
Children were invited to take part in a competition to win free tickets to the Aberdeen’s Satrosphere science centre, by entering a picture of their favourite vegetables.
Volunteers from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds were also in attendance to show visitors how to make bird boxes.
John Shewell, RHSA’s publicity manager, said: “There was certainly a lot more people at the event this year, there was 1,500 on Saturday and probably more than 2,500 on Sunday.
“We introduced a few new things this year such as a bouncy castle and the children’s competition, which was a great success with more than 100 entries.
“We had great weather as well so that really made a huge difference.”
