Police use Smith and Wesson bikes

Gentler alternative to Magnum Force

Published:

SMITH and Wesson is a byword – in films at least – for the manufacture of guns, particularly the .44 Magnum pistol used to devastating effect by Clint Eastwood in the Dirty Harry series of movies.

Nearer to home the company is contributing to the fight against crime in a far more tranquil manner, by supplying the custom-built bicycles now being used by police to patrol the towns and villages of Buchan.

The bikes have been hailed such a success that there are now plans to extend their use. “Go ahead, make my day” might soon become a familiar sound on the streets of Aberdeenshire.
