A COUPLE were taken to hospital after a head-on crash.
The pair’s Vauxhall Astra careered into a stone wall after the crash with a Toyota Hilux.
Police said the driver of the black Toyota was badly shaken but not hurt.
The crash happened on the unclassified Kemnay to Dunecht road near Hill of Corskie.
An 81-year-old man, who was driving the blue Astra, and an 80-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, were both take to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The man was said to have suffered a broken ankle and the woman had a black eye.
A Grampian Police spokesman today said the pair were comfortable and expected to be in hospital until tomorrow.
The 43-year-old man who was driving the Toyota was not injured.
The accident happened at 7.20pm on Saturday.
The road was closed for several hours to allow an accident investigation team to examine the scene, with it reopening at 3am yesterday.
Sergeant Neil Morrison, from Grampian Police’s road policing department at Stonehaven, today appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash, or saw either vehicle before the accident happened, to come forward.
He said: “The Astra motor car struck a drystane dyke which resulted in a significant impact and injuries to the occupants.
“It is still too early in our investigation to comment on the cause of the collision.
“However any additional information brought to our attention at this early stage would be of obvious benefit.”
