Famous faces of Scotland return to their roots in exhibition

A PHOTOGRAPHIC exhibition of famous faces taken by a Sutherland photographer opens at the National Museum of Scotland today.

More than 20 contemporary photographs feature in Salt of the Earth by Brora-based photographer Craig Mackay.

The exhibition celebrates emigration, internationalism and Scottish impact abroad.

It showcases famous faces who have made a contribution to the image of Scotland. Scots such as Sharleen Spiteri, Chris Hoy and Sir Jackie Stewart all feature, with Neve Campbell and Rosanne Cash – daughter of Johnny Cash – whose Scottish links are lesser known.

Mr Mackay, 49, is based at Brora, but is working in Louisiana, in the US. He said: β€œThe title reflects the often humble and resilient nature of Scottish emigrants who have enriched the world over the centuries.”

The exhibition, which marks the Year of Homecoming, is on display until January 10, next year.
