Turriff United put defender Reid on the transfer list

former longside juniors player looks to be on his way out of the haughs after joining in the summer

TURRIFF United have placed central defender Murray Reid on the transfer list.

Reid joined Turriff only in the summer, having moved to The Haughs from junior club Longside.

He has recently found himself on the bench and Turriff manager Kris Hunter believes it now to be in the best interest of all parties for the player to seek a move elsewhere.

Hunter said: “Murray came in during the summer but I have had to be honest with him and say that I think this decision is in his best interests.

“He is the sort of player who has to be playing regular football at his age – and that is something I cannot guarantee him at this moment.”

Reid started the season at the heart of the Turriff defence alongside skipper Barry Massie.

He played the full game in their opening day victory over Brora Rangers – and also played from the start the following week as Turriff lost at Fraserburgh.

However, he lost his place the following midweek in the Aberdeenshire Cup defeat at Keith and has not started a game since.

Reid joins two other Highland League players in recently being made available for transfer.

Nairn County are open to offers for Stephen Skinner, who is a defender.

Lossiemouth, meanwhile, have transfer-listed Michael Smith at his own request.

Any clubs interested in signing these players are urged to make contact with the respective managers.
