Row over use of money for care of elderly
Highland Council has been accused of subsidising its budget with money designated for caring for the elderly and infirm.
Some of the most vulnerable people in the north have had care benefits withdrawn after being told that the region’s social work service had run out of funds.
Nairn Provost Councillor Liz MacDonald said some families would be as much as £5,500 out of pocket, and she was aware of four families who had been hit.
