Chart hopes for a burning issue protest song

THE creator of a Bob Dylan-style protest song against incineration said he hoped its release would raise the profile of the potential hazards associated with waste-burning plants. It Was Madness, a folk/rock song written by Invergordon film-maker and musician Ro Goodwin, was released yesterday and is available to download from iTunes.

Mr Goodwin, of Inverbreakie Drive, Invergordon, said: “My hope is that by breaking into the charts the song will bring the issue of incineration to the forefront of mainstream media.”

He said he wrote the song to “spread far and wide the insanity of burning our waste”.

Mr Goodwin was involved in the campaign against plans for a £43million incinerator at Invergordon, which were refused by Highland Council’s Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross area planning committee in August. Plans have been put forward for incinerators at Binn Farm, Perthshire, and at Shore Road, Perth.
