AN ABERDEEN school for children and young people with special needs will today welcome visitors from China who want to learn more about how it cares for its pupils.
Camphill School Aberdeen at Bieldside, which caters for children with multiple learning difficulties such as autism and emotional behaviour issues, will welcome members from China’s Amity Foundation.
The foundation is an independent voluntary organisation which provides education and social services to people living in poor areas of the country.
The two visitors, Chu Chaoyu and Wang Jing, are visiting Scotland for two weeks to find out about different teaching tech-niques which they can take back and use at the foundation.
The pair, who have travelled from Nanjing in central China, are particularly keen to see how staff at the school work with autistic pupils.
Laurence Alfred, co-ordinator for Camphill School Aberdeen, said: “We are delighted to welcome another set of visitors to the school.
“This is one of several visitor groups we’ve had this year from around the world and we are always enthusiastic to share our knowledge with them.
“We’re very much looking forward to Chu and Wang’s visit.”
The Amity Foundation guests will visit various locations during their two-week visit to Scotland including a language and speech therapist in Stirling and a primary school for pupils with learning difficulties in Glasgow.
