ELLON put their promotion hopes on the line tomorrow when they face Linlithgow at Mains Park in a crucial National League Division 1 encounter.

The Meadows men are in third place in the division, 15 points adrift of leaders Dalziel, who boast a perfect record of 10 wins from 10 games.

Coach Clint Parson's men have a game in hand on the leaders but they cannot afford to slip up at fourth-placed Linlithgow, who they lead by a point.

The Ellon coach said: “We set the target of wanting to win promotion back to the Premier this season and this game is crucial.

“We have been very strong at home and have built momentum with our results.

“I was very happy with the second half showing against Berwick last weekend where we showed the ruthless streak I have been looking for.

“But we need to address our away form. It is vital we win on the road and Saturday's game is one we can make count.”

Parson's preparations for games in recent weeks has been hampered by the heavy rainfall but the South African is confident his players are ready for the challenges ahead this season. He said: “We have shown a great bond as a team so far this season and the players are working as a unit which bodes well.

“We feel there is still more to come and I am sure we can be even stronger as the season progresses.”

Stand-off Mark Ryan will return to the starting line-up following his second-half display in the 46-17 win against Berwick.
