Elgin realise they have point to prove on road
jack: we are just as good as the teams above us

Elgin City manager Ross Jack believes the Black and Whites are in a false position in the Third Division.
The Moray men are second bottom in the league after last week’s 6-1 thrashing by leaders Livingston at Borough Briggs. But Jack wants his players to bounce back when they make the marathon journey to play Annan this afternoon.
Elgin lost 4-2 against Harry Cairney’s team at Galabank in the quarter-final of the Challenge Cup in September and Jack is keen to make amends for that reversal.
He said: “We always look to win and we can’t afford to lose touch with the teams above us like Queen’s Park, Annan and Stranraer who are all in a pack.
“I definitely think we are every bit as good as them — there is no doubt about that.
“It is a long trip, we have played Annan already down there in the Challenge Cup.
“For 45 minutes we were well on top and two goals up, it could have been five as we totally dominated the first half.
“In the second half we looked a totally different team, we cannot afford to allow these things to happen again.
“The whole team needs to be brave enough to stand up and be counted and be brave on the ball when things are not going their way.
“We have a long way to improve to get to Livingston’s standard, but we are definitely as good as the other teams that are not full time in the league — we need to start proving it.”
Jack will be without injured central defenders Paul Kaczan and David Craig senior for the trip south.
He said: “We lost David Craig senior to a knee injury before the Livingston game and he will be out again.
“Paul Kaczan was taken for an x-ray with a suspected broken bone at the top of his foot. It is an impact injury which has gone through the skin and damaged a nerve, there is no chance of him being available on Saturday.”
Forwards Jason Crooks and Craig Frizzell (both ankle) will have fitness tests before the game.
