Commons start for Willie Bain
welcome for Glasgow by-election winner

LABOUR MPs yesterday welcomed Willie Bain, their latest Commons recruit, who triumphed in the Glasgow North East by-election last week.
In the contest, caused by the resignation of former Speaker Michael Martin, he won an 8,111 majority over the SNP.
As he advanced to the despatch box to loud cheering and waving of order papers from Labour MPs, he was escorted by party colleagues from his city John Robertson (Glasgow NW) and Mohammad Sarwar (Glasgow Central).
He took the oath of allegiance to the Queen before signing the roll of the House.
Mr Bain then shook hands with Speaker John Bercow.
