MUIR of Ord Rovers are on course for an early season cup double after they reached the final four of the SWL Cup thanks to a 5-0 victory against Tain Thistle at Grant Park.

A first-half double from Michael Turner put Rovers on route for the semi-finals.

Turner opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he shot past Thistle goalkeeper Ali Matheson. Turner was on target again seven minutes later.

Rovers put the outcome beyond doubt in the 62nd minute when Kevin Keith lobbed Matheson and Colin MacKenzie made it 4-0 in the 76th minute. Keith rounded off the scoring eight minutes from the end.

Rovers had the chance to make it six in the last minute when they were awarded a penalty but Matheson saved Ewan Dance’s spot kick.

Dingwall Thistle cruised into the last four with a 6-0 win against Bonar Bridge.

Thistle were 4-0 up at the break thanks to doubles from John MacLeod and David Taylor. David Buchanan added a fifth early in the second half and Gordon Duff completed the scoring.

A James Budge hat-trick helped Halkirk United to an emphatic 5-0 win against Balintore at Recreation Park.

Thurso suffered a rare defeat when they went down 2-1 against Golspie Sutherland at King George V Park.

Nigel MacKenzie gave the Vikings the lead from the penalty spot but goals from Alex Bone and Aaron Smith meant Golspie progressed to the next round.
