A MAN who is alleged to have assaulted a man with a metal pole and stamped on his head is to face trial in Aberdeen.

Peter Main, 39, denies leaving Joseph Lindsay severely injured on Victoria Street, Inverurie, on March 12.

Main is alleged to have hit Mr Lindsay on the head with a metal bar, repeatedly punched him causing him to fall to the ground and repeatedly stamped on his head, injuring him severely.

Another attacker is said to have been involved in the alleged Inverurie assault.

The alleged accomplice has not yet been identified by police.
