A boxer who has represented Scotland was yesterday fined £600 after being caught with drugs at an Inverness-shire music festival.

Ross Scott, 24, of 29 Braeface, Alness, admitted being in possession of cocaine on the first day of this year’s RockNess, on June 12.

Solicitor David Hingston, defending Scott, said his client was not a regular drug-user and would be tested by boxing authorities.

He said welterweight Scott had won fights boxing for Scotland.

Mr Hingston said: “He is not someone who is habitually involved in drugs.

“If he was using drugs, they would be picked up in his training.”

The solicitor added that Scott was also routinely drug-tested because he works as a scaffolder on rigs at Invergordon.

Sheriff David Sutherland fined Scott £600, and said he faced 20 days in prison if he defaulted on the payments.

Scott was also arrested at RockNess in 2008, with police officers having to use CS spray when he refused to leave the festival.

On that occasion he made threatening remarks to a steward and struggled violently with three police officers.
