GLASGOW Rocks basketball players Gareth Murray, Scott Russell and Jessie Sapp visited Aberdeen yesterday to put more than 250 Aberdeen primary school pupils through their paces.
Youngsters from Seaton, Culter, Tullos, Walker Road, Airyhall, Quarryhill, Scotstown, Smithfield, Hanover Street and Dyce primary schools participated in the final stage of the Jump2it programme with a basketball tournament at the Beach Leisure Centre.
The Rocks trio provided coaching at the event which was aimed at encouraging young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle through exercise and participation in sport.
The Jump2it programme began at the start of the year and Arbroath-born Rocks forward Murray hopes it has generated more interest in the sport in the north-east.
He said “It was a great tournament and it was fantastic to help so many kids have a great day.
“We wanted to give the children a chance to experience the amazing fun that can be had through playing basketball.”
