A north-east woman is still waiting for the keys to her new home – three months after she was due to move in.
Clare Davidson bought the “luxury” one-bedroom Bett Homes (formerly Gladedale) flat near Newmachar for £153,000 last year.
A day before she was due to move in, on October 23, she was told the date would be pushed back by a week.
A few days later, the developer said there had been a leak in the property, located in the former Kingseat Hospital building.
Miss Davidson, 22, visited the development and found the entire back wall had been affected, with water damage to the walls, ceilings and floors in four rooms.
Months later, she has still not moved in and says all the developer has done is erect scaffolding at the site – a job that took four weeks.
Bett Homes blamed the delays on “unprecedented weather conditions”.
The latest “rough” date for entry is March 31, the final day of her mortgage offer.
Miss Davidson, who is staying with her parents in Howe Place, Oldmeldrum, said: “The only form of compensation offered is the cost of storage, despite the fact I have not had a permanent place of residence since October.
“Even this is proving to be nothing less than a nightmare, as the head office will not approve the quote for the storage company.”
“I would like to see them pull their finger out and decide what is wrong with it and I would like some sort of compensation.”
A spokeswoman for Bett Homes said: “These were exceptional circumstances due to unprecedented weather conditions.
“We have made every attempt to keep Ms Davidson informed throughout, have agreed to pay her furniture storage costs and have offered to release her from her contract with no financial penalty.
“We cannot deliver a confirmed entry date but are currently working towards an entry date in March.”
