BUCKIE Thistle broke Hillhead hearts in the first round of the Morrison Cup as they shrugged off the Aberdeen side despite its spirited fight back.
Buckie raced into a two-goal lead with goals from David Burchill and Brian Bell in the first half.
The hosts came back to level the tie at 2-2 in the second half though but Burchill popped up with a winner 10 minutes from time to win the game.
In the second round of the same competition, Forres Thistle edged Lossiemouth United out after a penalty shootout at Logie Park.
The two sides could not be separated after a goalless 90 minutes but the hosts won 3-2 on spot kicks.
All three goals came in the final 20 minutes at the Northern Meeting Park as Division 1 leaders Inverness City took the points against Bishopmill United.
Keith Mason City ahead on 70 minutes before Steven Sanderson doubled their leader 15 minutes later. Ian Wilson then notched for United, but it was just a consolation.
New Elgin ran out convincing winners at Parkvale thanks to goals from Mark Connelly and Andy Munro in the first half with Stuart McGettrick and Barry Ellis adding two more in the second half.
Dufftown lost 5-1 at home to Fraserburgh United while Deveronside and Stonehaven battled out a 2-2 draw at Canal Park.
The Islavale v Glentanar match was postponed.
Nairn St Ninian were held at home by Fochabers in Division 2.
Harold Annand headed the hosts ahead on 30 minutes, but they could not build on it despite having two goals disallowed. Gary Pope then popped up to head a leveller for the visitors 10 minutes from time.
That allowed Burghead Thistle to reclaim top spot as they defeated Whitehills 3-1 away from home.
Gary Burchill, John Leggat and Ian Lunan notched the goals for the Jags.
