Highland dancers compete

MORE than 100 people took part in a major Highland dancing competition over the weekend.

The Aberlour Highland Dancing Festival was held in Speyside High School on Saturday.

Organiser Vivienne McIntosh expressed her thanks to all of the competitors, who included children of all ages from across the region.

Primary four years: PDB, PDB and HC: Samuel Duguid, Turriff.

Primary five years: Caitlin Shepherd, Peterhead.

Primary six years: Brogan Martin, Huntly

Beginners, eight years and under: Highland and national winner and overall beginner: Hannah Forbes, Inverness

H/L runner-up: Shakira Porter, Peterhead.

National runner-up: Shakira Porter and Samantha Sey, Huntly.

Beginners, nine and over: H/L winner and local beginner: Isla Van der Heiden, Aberlour.

H/L runner-up and national winner: Lauren Nicolson, Inverness.

National runner-up: Gemma Williamson, Nairn

Novice, nine years and under: H/L winner and overall novice: Laura Ritchie, Stonehaven.

H/L runner-up: Zoe Allan, Huntly.

National winner: Lois Paterson, Turriff.
