Rally fans get chance to learn marshalling skills

Published: 12/03/2010

MARSHALS are needed to help with the Mitsubishi Station Garage Granite City Rally, which starts on Saturday, April 17.

Rally marshalling is not a particularly complex activity and it is by far the best way to be part of the event if you are not able to compete.

You get right up close to the competitors and may also see quite a bit of competition action, depending on where you end up being a marshal.

No experience is required as pre-rally training is given.

A free afternoon course offering comprehensive training will be run by Aberdeen and District Motor Club at the Altens Thistle Hotel, Aberdeen, on Sunday, April 11, from 1.30pm until 5pm.

Attending the session does not commit you to marshalling on the event, but will arm you with the skills needed should you decide to go ahead.

Those interested in attending are asked to book their place by contacting the deputy clerk of course, Dave MacKintosh, on 07715 177296, or by e-mail to davemackintosh@newtonhillhr.co.uk. For further information on the rally, see www.granitecityrally.co.uk
