ROBERT Gordon’s College has successfully retained the girls’ North District cups at junior and senior level after claiming all the places in the finals of this year’s competitions.
The first XI, captained by Jenny Hutchison, beat Hannah MacPherson’s second team 4-1 in the senior final at Countesswells on Monday, while the second year A team, led by Emma Caldow, will meet Sophie Taylor’s third year A side in the junior final next Tuesday.
The S2 tournament cup is also taking pride of place at the school following the second year team’s win at Summerhill on Saturday.
The senior first team girls will be hoping to make it a double this week and a quadruple collection of titles for the school today when they visit Peffermill in Edinburgh for the Scottish schools finals.
Head of PE Sheila McNaught said: “The girls have all worked very hard to get to the finals, and despite being up against their friends it has not made them any less competitive.
“Each of the teams have been very keen to get their hands on the trophy to bring back to the college and there was a great game on Monday.
“The senior first team have the finals to come this week following their district final success.”
The first XI beat Ellon and St Margaret’s to reach Monday’s final with the second string beating Albyn and Aberdeen Grammar in their half of the draw.
The third year team, which is the favourite to win the junior cup next week, beat Lathallan and St Margaret’s B to set-up the all Gordon’s final against the second year side, which beat the third year Gordon’s B team and St Margaret’s A.
