Dundee defender Gary MacKenzie will leave Dens to join MK Dons – but hopes to travel as a league and cup double winner.
The 24-year-old centre half has signed a pre-contract deal with Paul Ince’s English League 1 side.
MacKenzie, who signed for Dundee from Rangers four years ago, has been outstanding for Jocky Scott’s side this season.
He insists he will be fully committed in both the First Division title race and the Scottish Cup bid.
The Dark Blues welcome Raith Rovers to Dens this weekend in the quarter-finals and MacKenzie said: “I’d love to end my time at Dundee a champion in the league.
“That’s the main priority, but if we can do it in the cup as well it would be fantastic.
“I’ve been here for four years and I feel it’s time for a chance of scenery. Going down to England is the best option. Everyone I have spoken to down there has only good things to say about it.
“Obviously, if we win the league and go up I could have had the chance to play against Rangers and Celtic, but it was a decision I had to make.
“I’d hate to get to the end of my career and be wondering what if and I’m also conscious the chance might not have come up again.
“When I first started speaking to MK Dons I told the Dundee manager what I was thinking and said if I made my mind up to go there was no point offering me a better contract.
“It’s about playing in a new league and the different lifestyle down south. I think going down there will make me a better player. It’s a fresh challenge, new teams and new players to test yourself against. Everyone I’ve spoken to about playing in England has been so positive.
“But that’s in the future. I’m totally committed to Dundee until the end of the season and I’ll be giving my all every week.
“I’m desperate to end my time at Dens as a winner so I’ll be doing everything I can to help the team achieve it, in the league and in the cup.”
Dundee have enjoyed two close-fought matches with John McGlynn’s Raith Rovers side this season, drawing 2-2 at Stark’s Park before edging the last meeting at home.
MacKenzie has been full of admiration for the Fifers since their arrival from Division 2 and sees them as tricky opponents.
He added: “John McGlynn has done a great job there and we’ve had some cracking matches with them this season. Being at home is good for us but they will still come to Dens with confidence and give it a right go.”
