Clach manager Iain Polworth is confident the Lilywhites will be able to fulfil all their Highland League fixtures this campaign – despite the season being extended.

The season could run until June after severe winter weather wreaked havoc on the fixture list.

The Grant Street Park club is in administration but Polworth is optimistic he will be able to field a full-strength team in the remaining games this term.

He said: “The administrator, Gordon MacLure, has given us assurances that we will be able to fulfil all our fixtures.

“Everybody will be in the same boat if the season is extended.

“I don’t think trialists can play after March 20 and that date is looming, so they will have to make a decision pretty quickly.

“It is a decision for the league to see if they are going to let players extend their contracts for a month or let them play as trialists.”

Polworth was able to retain prolific forward Gordon Morrison, who has scored 24 goals this season, despite the financial restrictions of administration.

The Lilywhites make the long trip to play Wick Aca-demy in league action tonight after playing Caley Thistle in a fundraising game in Inverness on Monday night.

Clach will make the trip without the suspended Mark Kennedy and Steven Macdonald.

Martin Gunn returns from suspension for Wick.

Although Clach lost 2-0 on Monday, with Nauris Bulvitis and Nick Ross scoring for the visitors, Polworth refuses to be downbeat when discussing the club’s long-term prospects.

He said: “I have always looked on the bright side of our situation and I think we are getting closer to solutions now after speaking to the administrator.

“He is dealing with things on a daily basis and when I speak to him on the phone he tells me what I want to hear and what I don’t want to hear.

“I would not say it has been particularly easy on the football side of things.

“The administrator comes from an accounting background and every penny is a prisoner.

“Sometimes he does not realise the harsh things that are required in footballing terms.

“He is excellent at the job he does.

“He is trying to find a way forward for the club and he has remained positive all the way through which has been great.

“If the administrator remains positive it surely helps the outcome.

“I think he is getting closer all the time to finding a solution for the club and to prolong the life of Clachnacuddin.

“I am very positive about the future.

“It is all about the club surviving and moving forward.”
