Bryan Dlugonski has joined Deveronvale for the third spell of his career after signing with the Banff Highland League club until the end of the season.

The former Ross County player will provide defensive cover for the Princess Royal Park club after the departure of Kenny Gilbert, who has left for a job in the Middle East.

Dlugonski, who won the Highland League title with Vale in 2003 before joining Huntly, returned to Banff in 2007 but left the club at the end of last season due to work commitments.

Vale co-manager Stuart Glennie is delighted to have Dlugonski back.

He said: “Bryan is a guy we talked to and things didn’t quite work out when he was here before with us.

“We decided that we need to bring him in. We have lost a lot of goals this season. We felt it was an area where we needed a bit of cover.

“Bryan has been keeping himself very fit and he is looking good right now.”

Gilbert made his final appearance for Vale in the defeat by Forres Mechanics a week ago and is set for a move to Saudi Arabia.

In addition to Gilbert departing the club, Mark Cowie has been placed on the transfer list at his own request.

Glennie said: “Mark has been busy with his work and is moving to a new house.

“He didn’t want to be doing all the travelling he has to do if he wasn’t getting a game which you can understand.

“We have said that we are open if any club wants to come in and speak to us.

“A couple of clubs have inquired and have been speaking to Mark.

“He indicated he wasn’t going to sign for us next season and has decided he wants a break.”

Dlugonski is in the squad for tonight’s game against Lossiemouth at Banff.

Lossie are without Jamie Bagley, who has an ankle injury, Gary McNicol is working and goalkeeper Darren McConnachie faces a fitness test.
