Gospel choirs set to be a revelation
annual event will be attended by performers from throughout the UK

GOSPEL choirs from across the country have gathered in Aberdeen for a week of workshops and performances.
The annual Revelation Rock Gospel Choir (RRGC) event sees performers from as far afield as Cambridge converge on the city to learn new skills and take part in a large-scale performance at the end of the week.
It is the first time that the event, named Week in March after the first one 16 years ago, has been held in Scotland for 10 years.
The RRGC is a national charity which supports 15 choir groups at universities throughout Britain. The Aberdeen University choir is the only one in the north of Scotland.
Around 50 performers are spending the week at Inchgarth Community Centre at Garthdee. They have the opportunity to learn new skills including sign language, conducting and production.
Co-ordinator Jo Ridpath said: “The idea is that it’s a fun week for people to get together, to make some friends and to learn. The atmosphere is really lovely.”
While some of the music is gospel, the choirs’ repertoire also includes more modern tunes, she added.
The week will culminate with a special concert on Saturday at the centre at 7.30pm. Tickets are £4 on the door. All are welcome.
